In late January and early February 2026, Portugal was hit by a series of severe weather events, marked by strong winds and heavy rainfall. These storms caused significant material damage across several regions of the country.
Storm Leonardo was particularly notable for its intensity. Its passage weakened many homes and placed local services under considerable strain.
In response to this exceptional situation and the activation of the national emergency plan, Pronal Portugal mobilized to support the most affected areas, particularly in the Leiria region.
Rapid mobilization following storm Leonardo
In coordination with the municipality of Aljustrel, Pronal Portugal teams implemented concrete actions to address the urgent needs resulting from the damage caused by storm Leonardo and the successive severe weather events.
A PVC roll was provided to cover damaged roofs and limit water infiltration. This solution made it possible to temporarily protect affected homes and prevent further damage while awaiting repair work.
This rapid intervention helped secure several homes weakened by strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Essential supplies to support the recovery efforts
Beyond this immediate action, Pronal Portugal worked closely with the municipality and local partners to actively support the reconstruction efforts undertaken after Storm Leonardo.
Essential supplies, including cement, were purchased to contribute to rehabilitation and restoration operations in the affected areas. This initiative aims to provide lasting support to local communities in restoring damaged infrastructure and homes.
