More than twenty years after an initial installation, the municipality of Saint-Étienne-de-Cuines has renewed its trust in Pronal to upgrade its sewage sludge storage. This project highlights the ability of flexible tanks to stand the test of time while adapting to the evolving needs of local authorities.
A durable flexible tank serving sanitation

In 2001, the municipality called on Pronal to install a flexible tank dedicated to the storage of sewage sludge. The project was based on a capacity of 200 m³, incorporating a mixer to ensure effective homogenization of the sludge. This solution guarantees perfect tightness as well as resistance suited to the nature of the stored effluent.
A reliable installation for over 20 years
Over the years, the flexible tank has demonstrated its full reliability in what is nevertheless a demanding environment. For more than 22 years, it has maintained its performance, highlighting the quality of the technical fabrics used by Pronal, designed to withstand the chemical and mechanical stresses of sewage sludge. This longevity confirms the relevance of the initial choice and the ability of Pronal solutions to stand the test of time.
In 2023, the municipality of Saint-Étienne-de-Cuines once again called on Pronal to upgrade its installation. As requirements had changed, it was no longer necessary to maintain a volume of 200 m³. After analysis, a reduction in capacity proved to be the most suitable solution to optimize operations.
A new optimized and adapted flexible tank
The choice then turned to a 150 m³ flexible tank, better sized to meet the current needs of the local authority. One of the key aspects of the project lies in the reuse of the mixer installed in 2001. Still in perfect working condition, this equipment was retained and integrated into the new flexible tank, thereby reducing costs and making the most of existing, still high-performing equipment.
The installation of this new flexible tank was carried out as a continuation of the previous setup, without requiring major civil engineering work. Thanks to the flexibility of Pronal solutions, it is possible to precisely adapt volumes and technical characteristics to site constraints, while ensuring excellent resistance to sewage sludge and simplified operation.
