Why choose a gas holder balloon over a rigid gas holder?

Why choose a gas holder balloon over a rigid gas holder?

Discover the advantages of the gas holder balloon! Just as durable, leak-proof, and less expensive!

What is a gas holder?

The gas holder is an external gas storage unit. With its elastomer membrane and specific coating, our product ensures perfect sealing. Furthermore, we assemble it through vulcanization, which prevents any possible leaks.

We drew inspiration from the design of our flexible compensators and incorporated our expertise in fuel storage.

The gas holder ballon consists of the following elements:

  • Resistant fabric: The tank is made from specially designed fabrics that are flexible and durable. These fabrics are reinforced to provide increased resistance to pressure and abrasion.
  • Protective coating: The fabric is coated with a protective layer to ensure the tank’s gas-tightness and prevent gas leaks. This coating provides a strong barrier against the diffusion of stored gases.
  • Inlet connection for controlled gas entry. It is used to fill the tank with the appropriate gas.
  • Outlet connection for releasing the stored gas from the tank when needed. It is used to regulate the internal pressure of the tank and supply gas to end users.
  • Condensate drainage connection located at the bottom of the product.
  • Optional:
  • Infrared, laser, or mechanical level detection system.
  • Holding/attachment system.
  • Safety valve for internal pressure limitation.

The flexible gas holder is designed to expand and contract based on the volume of gas it contains. When filled with gas, the tank expands to accommodate the additional volume, while releasing the gas causes it to contract and reduce its volume. This flexibility allows for adapting the storage capacity to specific needs and minimizing the space occupied when the tank is partially empty.

Why use a gas holder?

The gas holder is capable of storing multiple types of gases such as CH4, H2, CO2, and others. It ensures their conditioning and mixing.

The gas holder can be used for various activities:

  • Hydrogen production by electrolysis.
  • Syngas production by pyrolysis (see an example of application).
  • Recovery of non-condensed gases by pyrolysis.
  • Methanization.
  • Methanation.

This product has a significant ecological advantage. It contributes to the fight against climate change. Indeed, this buffer storage solution prevents the release of polluting gases into the atmosphere. The gas is stored to be modified and better utilized later on.

What are the advantages of a gas holder balloon compared to a rigid one?

  • Storage flexibility: Flexible gas holders offer variable storage capacity, making them suitable for fluctuations in gas demand. Their capacity can be adjusted according to needs, allowing for a more efficient use of available storage space.
  • Mobility: Our gas holders are lighter and more compact than rigid ones, making them easier to transport and install. They can be moved more easily from one location to another, which can be advantageous in situations where mobility is required, such as construction sites or temporary events.
  • Adaptability to restricted spaces: Gas holders ballons can be configured in different shapes and sizes, allowing them to fit in restricted spaces or specific configurations. They can be installed in areas where rigid tanks would not be suitable due to space constraints.
  • Cost: Flexible products can be less expensive to purchase and install than rigid steel or metal tanks. They also require less civil engineering work, which can reduce overall project costs.
  • Ease of installation: Flexible gas holders are relatively easy to install and do not require complex equipment or processes. They can be quickly set up and commissioned, allowing for a faster start of operations.
  • Specific applications: Flexible gas storage solutions are used in various industries and applications, including the oil and gas industry, energy production, chemical industry, agriculture, hospitals, laboratories, etc. They can be used to store gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, CO2, among others.
